Open Gardens

New things at Open Gardens 2019

This fabulous event has been held for several years now: organised by The Friends of Bardwell Church. Through their efforts, the event has become a firm favourite in our village’s programme of summer activities. We look forward to 2019 being another fun and enjoyable event but in order to achieve this, residents prepared to open their gardens are key. Therefore, if you feel you would like to open your garden please phone Gordon Burns on 250489 or Jan Cavell on 250263.

This year’s event will also include NEW THINGS! An exhibition in the church entitled ‘What Gardening Means to Me’. This is an invitation for anyone to take their own creation from their garden to the church. This could be cut flowers or vegetables, a planted container like a pot, basket or something more original like your old work boots. We also have a junior gardener’s section for school children to create a miniature garden. This could have whatever the young gardener would look for in a garden. It could be created in something like an ice cream container, washing-up bowl or even a plate. Lastly, we are looking for artists to submit a picture: a painting, photograph, needlepoint or any medium of your choice related to their love of gardening. Our visitors will be invited to choose their favourite in the three categories and prizes will be awarded. Contact Jan Cavell on 250263 to get involved.

So, come on let’s pull out all the stops and look forward to a brilliant day, please come and join in or volunteer to help and raise funds to preserve the fabric of our church for future generations of Bardwellians. Oh! And …  enjoy Father’s Day with a brilliant TREASURE HUNT COMPETITION with prizes!
